We visited Dresden and Berlin in late March/early April 2003. Note the Frauenkirche under reconstruction in Dresden, as well as many high-water marks from the 2002 flood. Also many fascinating sights in Berlin, including bits of the Wall (one section itself walled off!), the very nicely rebuilt Reichstag, and the truly surreal Stasi headquarters in old East Berlin. (And the weather - very cold in early April, with some snow.)
